Technology now has a new look and I am not referring to fancy design.
Yesterday the world saw in Lebanon, pagers explode and the damage that can occur. It put on full display how manufacturing process can be disrupted to insert explosives before they reach their destination. Further we see the major hazard of companies agreements to have yet other companies manufacture their products.
I am not here to discuss blame or who knew what when. I will leave that to the millions of others who are only capable of seeing an event and not the whole picture of the outcome of this event.
Think for one minute. Very little, it any today of our technology in the U.S. is manufactured in the U.S. Some claim to be in the U.S. but learn to read the fine print and you will find components are manufactured overseas and assembled in the U.S. This is NOT manufactured in the U.S., it is nothing more than a play on words allowing you to think you are buying something made in the U.S. You know for all you people who actually believe boycotting Walmart saves slave labor because you purchase the same brand for higher prices at Target who uses the same slave labor to produce the exact same product you now may more money for so you be “feel good”.
Reality, everything coming from Google, Apple, Dell, HP, etc. is manufactured in China, Taiwan, any country but the United States. Many of those contract to make components and full devices for these companies subcontract it out to yet another manufacturer. Just as the case with those pagers. Gold Apollo, based in Taiwan contracted with a company in Budapest, Hungary to make that specific model of pager under their brand. An intelligence organization infiltrated either the manufacturing or supply chain in conjunction with IDF to insert explosives into those pagers being delivered whereby they could set off the explosive as we saw yesterday.
What does that do to industry? How can one company trust another when subcontracting work they are contracted by with yet another company to produce said product.
Consider the big picture of terrorist, now accepted by the U.S. was this type of attack, moving forward what prevents any organization or military from doing the same to other countries, nothing.
Looking at the picture you see many things controlled by a phone whereby calling it a “smart home”. Each of those devices are manufactured overseas though contracts with companies to sell them to people. Each of those is now an entry point for such an attack on civilians at any point in time. What we saw yesterday IS NOT limited to pagers and the Middle East.
Personally I am disgusted by this act on any level. You changed the world and it will continue changing and getting worse as distrust in everything begins to grow. This will step up loss of freedoms by people willing to give them up so they get the perception of being safe. None of this technology is safe now that Mossad and Israel have proven trust can be broken.
Now the question becomes WHEN does everyone begin to TRUST NOTHING?
